El Bolero, meaning “shoeshine,” is a Mexican restaurant located in the quickly developing Design District area of Dallas. The concept behind the design was to create a vibrant and comfortable space where guests can enjoy authentic Mexican fare. The space fuses traditional Mexican elements and finishes with modern features to create an unforgettable experience. In the dining room, guests are met with large brightly-colored mosaic portraits of famous Mexican artists Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Dark woods and terracotta screen block walls add warmth, while bright teal clay tile pops from behind lemon yellow tufted bar stools. A charcoal gray diamond grid ceiling overlooks bold black and white patterned concrete floor tile imported directly from Mexico. The hallway is lined with an art installation of vintage wooden shoe forms, inspired by the El Bolero name.
