Located on a 2.7 acre piece of land in a central area of Uptown Dallas, The Rustic structure sits with commanding presence. The project was developed as a multi-function space with a restaurant and bar component and a large music and entertainment stage that functions as an interior stage for smaller venues and opens up to the outside patio for larger events. The building is modulated as three main volumes that intersect in different angles defining exterior spaces like the courtyard as well as interior room areas like the dining, bar, kitchen and stage spaces. The main structure is constructed primarily out of wood with an engineered roof structure and the volumes are skinned with dark, standing seam, galvalume corrugated metal and iron spot masonry materials on their outside that complement each other but also create a dynamic composition. A large, crushed granite patio defines the area in front of the main stage and large horizontal custom garage doors pivot open to the side of the stage, connecting the inside bar and dining area to the outside patio.
The Rustic is a great addition to the Dallas area and the building is a great example of a multi-functional space that blends with the city’s skin and social fabric.
