Approach

Our design for this new location’s interiors brings light tones, textural materials, and authentic decor to the forefront. We looked to traditional latin architectural vernacular for integration of simple, but powerful forms and a return to the materials native to it. The space was planned as an open space, with full views throughout, while maintaining individuality in experience within each space. We wanted to integrate an interpretation of native motifs throughout that gave the space a clear Latin ambiance.

Outcome

Gloria's McKinney's new retail space carefully blends a contemporary feel while staying true to the Salvadorian rooted restaurant concept. The interior space is carefully cladded from floor to ceiling in materiality that ties it directly to its Central American roots in both the textural and tonal. The simplicity of material application is crossed with raw and heavy texture to promote an environment that is reminiscent of an upscale Salvadorian cuisine experience. Floors are laid in concrete tiles in a mixture of solid and iconic patterns while walls are balanced with textured and visual cladding. The semi-private dining room is decorated in 4 tiers of decorative shelving filled with custom terracotta pots. The main dining room is a mixture of dining at different heights, centralized by a large bar clad in handcrafted tiles and backed by a custom floor to ceiling tequila display. Four, ten-foot arched doors open up to the covered patio, equipped with outdoor lounge and dining seats in an intimate, beautiful ambience.
