For this new Texas entertainment venue named after the cinema and bowling activities that root the concept, we were asked to design an exterior and interior that diverts from the typical venue to a carefully designed, contemporary space. Housing activities like bowling, arcade games and laser tag; the space also has a full bar, restaurant and lounge spaces alongside it’s multi-room theater space. We wanted to create a space that was a step-up from your typical theater venue and driven by boutique hospitality design.
While functionality of the space design was an important factor in Strike and Reel’s design, we wanted the interior design to take a driving force in how spaces transitioned. We wanted to move forward with a semi open concept that allowed for glimpses of other spaces that, together with the bespoke installations drew the eye and eventually the user between spaces for higher engagement.
With careful consideration of the Texas Modern aesthetic, we created a space that bordered modernity but was still inviting and eye-catching for the users which vary largely in age-range. The entry lounge space is laid in natural wood floors, clad in painted wood walls and arranged with modern profile furniture. Wood clad steel columns and interior factory style glazing allows for transparency between spaces while clearly defining each.
Color changing LED lighting fills the entertainment spaces and draws the eye towards the ceiling highlighting various in-house designed art installations. We used repetition and iconic entertainment symbols to create highly visual but engaging pieces.
Natural wood materials mixed with painted paneling and deep upholstery help the spaces clearly defined for relaxation to exist comfortably against the energetic, light filled entertainment spaces creating a design that feels exciting enough for the young user and modern and inviting to the adult user.
